Jack White Directs Clip on Photographer and Designer David James Swanson
Jack White is trying his hand at directing
Jack White has spent much of his time on the road in support of his latest solo album, “Lazaretto,” but now, he’s on hiatus, and he’s using the extra time for a bevy of projects, including directing. White has directed a short movie about photographer and designer David James Swanson, named “David Swanson: A Life, a Dream, a Pocket on a Shirt.” The five-minute flick is streaming now on YouTube.
“A Life, a Dream, a Pocket on a Shirt” is a comic presentation of Swanson’s journey to bring his signature pocket T-shirt to White’s Nashville-based record label, Third Man Records. In addition to the movie, Third Man Records will release the David James Swanson Pocket T online and at their Nashville location on Saturday (Sept. 12).
Swanson’s photography will also be featured at an exhibit highlighting his work with Polaroid film. The full exhibit will also present photographs taken by Patrick Pantano, the man behind the cover photos for the White Stripes albums “Elephant and White Blood Cells, and Third Man Records photographer Angelina Castillo. That exhibit will be up at the Third Man Records’ Nashville location from Sept. 10 through 16.
In other White news, his band the Dead Weather will release their third studio album, “Dodge and Burn,” on Sept. 25.
