Foo Fighters Play Nirvana’s Cover of ‘Molly’s Lips’

Foo Fighters rocked a popular Nirvana cover at their Scotland show this week

Foo Fighters channeled Nirvana and one of Kurt Cobain‘s most beloved bands at their concert in Scotland on Tuesday (Sept. 8). As Foos frontman Dave Grohl introduced guitarist, and former Nirvana member, Pat Smear, the band started jamming to cover of the Vaselines’ “Molly’s Lips,” which was a tune Nirvana were known for covering. Some fan-shot footage of the performance is posted on YouTube.

In addition to covering “Molly’s Lips” live, Nirvana released the song as a single on their 1992 compilation album, “Insecticide.” Cobain was a big fan of The Vaselines, and Nirvana also covered other songs from the band, most notably “Son of a Gun.”

Foo Fighters’ Scotland show was the final stop on their U.K. tour. They band is back in North America this Friday (Sept. 11) to kick off the last leg of their tour in support of their current album, “Sonic Highways.”
