Foo Fighters Kicked Off the Emmy Awards Telecast

Foo Fighters were supposed to perform at this year’s Emmy Awards, but it didn’t happen

Foo Fighters picked up two Emmy Awards for their documentary series “Sonic Highways,” which aired on HBO, and the band was set to commemorate the wins with a performance on the Emmy Awards telecast. That didn’t happen. According to frontman Dave Grohl, the group’s performance was cut from the show’s lineup.

“We were supposed to play on the Emmys, and we were gonna play on the Emmys, but they kicked us off,” Grohl told TMZ. When asked why the performance was cut, Grohl said, “I can’t tell you.”

A Foo Fighters representative confirmed to TMZ that the group was ready to play the Emmys, but that Fox, the network on which the show aired, “refused to allow the band to play a full song.” Boo!

In other news, Grohl is continuing to recover from a broken leg, which he got during a Foo Fighters show in Sweden, where he fell off the stage. When asked how his leg is feeling, Grohl said, “It’s going pretty good.”

“Sonic Highways” picked up Creative Emmy Awards for outstanding sound editing for nonfiction programming and outstanding sound mixing for nonfiction programming.
