Metallica’s Robert Trujillo to Release ‘Jaco’ Documentary on Record Store Day Black Friday

Robert Trujillo of Metallica will release his ‘Jaco’ documentary in November

Metallica bass player Robert Trujillo has been hard at work on a new documentary called “Jaco,” which tells the story of the famed jazz bass player Jaco Pastorius. Now, the film is scheduled to arrive on Blu-ray/DVD and digitally on Nov. 27, this year’s Record Store Day Black Friday. The film’s soundtrack will arrive that same day.

To help ring in the release of “Jaco” and Record Store Day Black Friday, Trujillo will do a special signing at the Sound Garden record store in Syracuse, New York. “Jaco” will also be screened at the event. Trujillo is an executive producer on the movie.

“Jaco” chronicles the tale of Pastorius, a “self-taught, larger-than-life musician who single-handedly changed the course of modern music by redefining the sound and the role of the electric bass guitar,” according to a statement. The movie, which Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak directed, features appearances by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Rush’s Geddy Lee, Carlos Santana, Sting and others.
