Eddie Vedder traveled to Pittsburgh to watch the Chicago Cubs take on the Pittsburgh Pirates this week

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is a longtime Chicago Cubs fan, so you can imagine his excitement for the Cubs taking on the Pirates in Wednesday’s (Oct. 7) National League wild-card came. Vedder went all the way to Pittsburgh to watch the game, and sure enough, the Cubs beat the Pirates 4-0 and made it to the next round of the MLB playoffs.

Vedder celebrated after the game with a champagne celebration in the locker room.

Next up, the Cubs will go against the St. Louis Cardinals. According to a tweet, when asked if he’ll trek to St. Louis for Game 1, Vedder responded, “I have kids and a job. I’ll be in Chicago!”

Advancing to Game 1 is a big deal for the Cubs. The team hasn’t scored a World Series win since way back in 1908. This year is the first season the Cubs have advanced to the playoffs since 2008.

This isn’t Vedder’s first brush with baseball this year. Earlier in the season, Vedder sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Wrigley Field at a regular season game with the Cubs and the New York Mets. It’s become something of a regular gig for Vedder, who has sung “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Wrigley a handful of times since 1998, after legendary Cubs announcer Harry Caray passed away.
