P.O.D. Say Katy Perry Was Never a Backup Singer
P.O.D. clarify reports that Katy Perry once served as their backup singer
They say to never judge a book by its cover, and that’s exactly what P.O.D. is saying when it comes to a little rumor that Katy Perry was a backup singer for the band. When a story broke that P.O.D. had Perry sing backup vocals on the Christian rap-rock band’s song “Goodbye for Now,” following a video surfacing of the pop singer and the band performing the song together on “The Tonight Show.” Now, P.O.D. are clearing things up and have issued a statement stating that Perry was certainly not a backup singer.
“This is revisionist history and disrespectful to our girl Katy Perry who was NEVER a backup singer,” the band stated. “We invited her to participate on our record as she was and is still is one of the few pop artists with strong musicianship roots. She paid her dues not as a backup singer but in a van going town to town.”
Meanwhile, P.O.D. continue to tour behind their latest studio album, “The Awakening.” The band will play a special show Halloween night at The Fillmore in Detroit along with Insane Clown Posse, Onyx, King 810 and DJ Paul.
