The soundtrack for the documentary ‘Jaco’ will feature some famous names

“Jaco,” a documentary produced by Metallica‘s Robert Trujillo about famed jazz bass player Jaco Pastorius, is getting a soundtrack companion. The album, called “Jaco: Original Soundtrack,” will offer recordings by the late bass player, as well as a tune called “Come On Come Over” performed by Mass Mental, which features Trujillo and Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea.

Trujillo produced the soundtrack with Pastorius’ oldest son, John Pastorius IV. The release also features appearances by Joni Mitchell, Tech N9ne and Mott the Hoople singer Ian Hunter.

“Jaco: Original Soundtrack” and the documentary’s DVD/Blu-ray will arrive on Nov. That same day, Trujillo will host a special signing at the Sound Garden record shop in Syracuse, New York.

“Jaco,” directed by Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak, tells the tale of Pastorius, a “self-taught, larger-than-life musician who single-handedly changed the course of modern music by redefining the sound and the role of the electric bass guitar,” according to a statement. Flea and Rush’s Geddy Lee make appearances in the movie.
