Oasis fans will get to know more about the band in an upcoming documentary

Oasis’ story will be told in a new documentary from the same force that put together the Amy Winehouse documentary, “Amy.” According to Screen Daily, “Amy” director Asif Kapadia and producer James Gay Rees will produce the Oasis slick, while Mat Whitecross will direct it. The film has yet to get a title or release date.

“Oasis are without doubt one of the classic British rock bands, selling 70 million albums worldwide and defining the sound of a whole era,” says Andrew Orr of Independent, the company that will distribute the movie, in a statement. “At its heart are Liam and Noel Gallagher, two of the finest rock n’ roll stars this country has ever produced. Mat’s sensibility and style are going to provide the perfect complement to this tale of the rise of one of the great rock n’ roll bands.”

Screen Daily reports that the folks behind the film have “unprecedented” access to never-before-seen Oasis archive footage.

Oasis broke up in 2009, when Noel left the band on poor terms with his brother. The Gallagher brothers still haven’t made up.
