Metallica’s ‘project manager’ was killed during the attacks in Paris last week

For Metallica, the terrorist attack on the Bataclan concert hall in Paris, France, last week hit very close to home. The band lost a friend, Thomas Ayad, who worked for Universal Music France, in the attacks. Ayad worked as Metallica’s “project manager” for the past eight years.

“While Thomas had the official title of being our ‘project manager,’ we knew him as a member of our Metallica family, a fan, a friend…and a warm, helpful, supportive familiar face each time we visited France,” Metallica post on their Facebook page. “Friday we lost Thomas, at the Bataclan theatre, in a way that none of us can begin to comprehend.”

The message concludes, “Our thoughts are with Thomas’ friends, family, co-workers and all Parisians during these very difficult times.”

Terrorists attached several locations in Paris, France, on Nov. 31, including the Bataclan during an Eagles of Death Metal concert. All of the members of the band escaped alive and unharmed, but one of the band’s crew members, Nick Alexander, was killed in the attack.
