Stone Temple Pilots’ ‘Plush’ No. 1 on Billboard’s LyricFind Chart
Following Scott Weiland’s death, STP’s ‘Plush’ is No. 1 on Billboard’s LyricFind Chart
Stone Temple Pilots’ famed track “Plush” has jetted to No. 1 on Billboard’s LyricFind chart following the death of the group’s ex-frontman, Scott Weiland, who was found dead on his tour bus earlier this month. The LyricFind chart tracks online lyric search volume in the U.S.
“Plush” appeared on Stone Temple Pilots’ debut album, “Core,” which arrived in 1992. At the time, the song hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart and climbed to No. 9 on the Alternative Songs chart.
“Plush” isn’t the only Stone Temple Pilots song to climb to the top of the LyricFind chart. “Big Empty,” off 1994’s “Purple,” and “Creep” off “Core.”
Weiland was an original member of Stone Temple Pilots. He was with the group until they parted ways in 2002. The guys got back together in 2008, but Weiland left the band in 2013. Stone Temple Pilots remaining members forged ahead Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington serving as their new vocalist, although Bennington left the band in November.
The remaining members of Stone Temple Pilots issued a statement regarding Weiland’s death. “We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again,” they commented. “It’s what made you who you were. You were gifted beyond words, Scott. Part of that gift was part of your curse. With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go.”
