Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver Song Sales Increase Following Scott Weiland’s Death
Scott Weiland’s bands are topping the charts
Scott Weiland passed away earlier this month, and the sales of songs from Weiland’s former bands have seen a surge in sales after his death, reports Billboard. This past week, eight of the top 10 tracks on Billboard’s Hard Rock Digital Songs chart came from either Stone Temple Pilots or Velvet Revolver, with Weiland on vocals.
Topping the list is Stone Temple Pilots’ “Plush,” followed by STP’s “Interstate Love Song” and “Creep,” and then Velvet Revolver’s “Fall to Pieces.” Also making the top 10 are STP’s “Vasoline,” “Big Empty” and “Sex Type Thing,” as well as “Slither.”
Stone Temple Pilots’ “Plush,” “Interstate Love Song” and “Creep” are all on Billboard‘s Hot Rock Songs chart, which was started in 2009.
Aside from the song downloads, Stone Temple Pilots have also seen a rise in album sales. The group’s greatest hits album, 2003’s Thank You, and debut, 1993’s Core, have both made it back onto the Billboard 200 chart at No. 47 and No. 145, respectively.
Weiland passed away on Dec. 3 at the age of 48.
