Josh Homme and Iggy Pop will release ‘Post Pop Depression’ in March

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and Iggy Pop have secretly been working on a collaborative album named “Post Pop Depression.” Now, the secret is obviously out.

Speaking with The New York Times, Homme and Pop announced that the album, which will arrive on March 18, will be a sequel to Pop’s famed 1977 collaborative album with David Bowie, “Lust for Life.”

Homme and Pop worked on “Post Pop Depression” with a band of high-profile musicians, including the Dead Weather guitarist Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. The band performed on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” last week.

Initially, it didn’t seem like the project would do much touring.

“There won’t be hardly any shows, and they won’t be in big places, and you won’t be able to get a ticket,” Homme told The New York Times. “So almost everyone won’t see it. It will be like trying to catch smoke in your hands. And that makes it even better. It will be special, and it will be over in the blink of an eye.”

Now, they’ve announced tour dates, which are posted via www.postpopdepression.com.

Homme also told The Rolling Stones that he was planning to perform with his other band, Eagles of Death Metal, at their show at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris, France, on Nov. 13, which was the night of the terrorist attacks, but didn’t go because of “a stroke of fate.” Homme said that working on “Post Pop Depression” helped him get over the afterstock of the Paris attacks.

“The fact that I had this to work on, it saved me,” Homme said.
