Bill Ward Denies Offer to Perform with Black Sabbath
Bill Ward won’t take part in Black Sabbath’s ‘The End Tour’
Bill Ward, who is currently estranged from Black Sabbath, is denying the statement that he was invited to take part of the group’s The End Tour.
The tale starts with Black Sabbath bass player Geezer Butler telling Rolling Stone that the group had suggested having Ward perform the final show of the tour, but he said “no.”
“I never received an offer to play the final show,” Ward stated to Rolling Stone. “I will say that I wouldn’t want to play only one gig when I am completely capable of touring [extensively]. I would not validate their untrue statements about my health by playing only one gig. Also, I wouldn’t want to show up for only some of our fans and not (all of them).”
Ward’s fallout with Black Sabbath – which features Butler, singer Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi – started in 2012,when he opted out of playing reunion tour because he wasn’t given a “signable contract.” In place of Ward, Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk laid down drums on the band’s 2013 album 13, and Tommy Clufetos has played drums on Black Sabbath tours.
Black Sabbath launched their The End tour, which they claim will mark their final run, last week in Omaha, Nebraska.
