Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament: ‘There’s No Plan of Making a Record Yet’
Here’s the latest on new music from Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam are getting ready to rock a spring and summer North American tour, but if you think that means new music is on the way, you’re wrong. Bass player Jeff Ament tells Rolling Stone that the guys of Pearl Jam really don’t have any solid plans for new music.
“I think there’s talk of getting together and throwing some ideas together,” Ament said. “There’s no plan of making a record yet. When we got together in South America (last year) there was lots of talk of how we wanted to do it and in what ways we wanted it to be different, what things we liked about the last record.”
Ament continued, “It’s just in the planning stages and everyone deciding when the time is. Usually it just takes somebody to call somebody else and be like, ‘Hey, do you want to go into the studio next month?’ And that just hasn’t happened yet.”
Pearl Jam will set off on their North American tour on April 8 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The run includes sold-out gigs at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Boston’s Fenway Park.
“After a while, I actually forget that I’m in this big band, so I’m always humbled and shocked when things like that happen,” Ament said regarding all the sold-out shows. “It’s never not a surprise.”
