Tool Album Update from Maynard James Keenan
Maynard James Keenan says Tool ‘just can’t seem to move forward’ on new album
Bad news for Tool fans banking on that new album arriving soon. Speaking with California newspaper The Press-Enterprise, singer Maynard James Keenan has an update on the album’s development, but it’s not a positive update.
“We’ve found a common ground,” Keenan said. “We just can’t seem to move forward.”
Tool’s last album was 2006’s “10,000 Days.” One of the reasons the new album is taking so long is a complex lawsuit the band has been involved with since 2007. The lawsuit was settled just last year.
Tool have been working away on the follow-up to “10,000 Days” but have kept the writing and recording process pretty secret. One good bit of development came last fall, when guitarist Adam Jones told Rolling Stone “things are really flowing and going really well” for the new album. Now, Keenan’s update seems to contradict what Jones initially said.
In other news, Keenan will hit the road with his Puscifer this month.
