Temple of the Dog Master Tapes Lawsuit Settled
‘Temple of the Dog’ reissue reportedly in the works
Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and drummer Matt Cameron recorded Temple of the Dog’s self-titled album in 1990, and the collection was released the following year. Last year, A&M Records sued Rajan Parashar of London Bridge Studios, alleging he refused to return the master tapes of the Temple of the Dog release. Parashar’s brother Rick produced the album.
Cornell took the side of A&M Records, which claimed it purchased the tapes in 1993.
Now, A&M and Rajan Parashar have come to an agreement. Cornell celebrated by tweeting a photo of the master tapes, stating, “TEMPLE OF THE DOG masters returned today. History made a whole 25 years later!”
A&M reportedly is preparing to remaster the album for a 25th-anniversary deluxe reissue sometime this year.
Temple of the Dog recorded their self-titled album in 15 days as a tribute to late Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood. The grunge album is best known for the singles “Say Hello 2 Heaven” and “Hunger Strike,” the latter which features Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder.
