Pearl Jam, Linkin Park and More Sign Letter to Congress Asking for Gun Control

‘Open Letter to Congress’ asking for tighter gun laws has support of Pearl Jam, Linkin Park
More than 150 performers, including rock musicians, and executives have signed an “Open Letter to Congress” asking for tighter gun laws.
Billboard released the letter, which has been signed by members of Pearl Jam and Linkin Park, as well as by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Beck, Trent Reznor, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, Joan Jett, Iggy Pop, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie, Halsey, Courtney Love, members of X Ambassadors, Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff, Mike D of Beastie Boys and fun.’s Nate Ruess.
“As leading artists and executives in the music industry, we are adding our voices to the chorus of Americans demanding change,” the letter states. “We call on Congress to do more to prevent the gun violence that kills more than 90 Americans every day and injures hundreds more.”
The letter goes on to state that with the recent shooting massacre in Orlando at Pulse nightclub and the shooting that same weekend of singer Christina Grimmie that resulted in her death, those who signed the letter believe it’s time for Congress to require a background check for each gun sale and stop suspected terrorists from purchasing guns.
