Music from pre-Pearl Jam band Mother Love Bone is getting reissued

If you’re a Pearl Jam fan, you likely know all about Mother Love Bone. The Seattle rock band was fronted by beloved singer Andrew Wood and also included Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, before Pearl Jam was a band. Now, Mother Love’s recordings will be reissued in a new, all-encompassing set called “Mother Love Bone: On Earth as It Is.”

“Mother Love Bone: On Earth as It Is” will pack a remastered edition of Mother Love Bone’s debut album, “Apple,” and 1989 EP, “Shine.” The set will arrive as a CD/DVD with two bonus discs of B-sides, unreleased tracks, demos and the concert film, “Love Bone Earth Affair.” The collection will also be available on vinyl with rare photos and fresh artwork.

Both the CD/DVD and vinyl versions of “On Earth as It Is” will arrive this fall and are available for pre-order on Pearl Jam’s website.

Literally days before the release of “Apple,” Wood passed away from a heroin overdose. He was only 24. Mother Love Bone broke up following his death. After the band called it quits, Gossard and Ament got together with Chris Cornell, Matt Cameron and Mike McCready and paid homage to Wood with the musical project Temple of the Dog. Gossard, Ament, McCready and Cameron went on to form Pearl Jam.

In other news, Temple of the Dog recently announced its first ever tour, as the project never did a proper tour back in the ‘90s. Their trek will set off Nov. 4 in Philadelphia.
