Jack White to Receive Honors from Recording Academy Producers and Engineers
Congratulations are in order for Detroit-bred musician Jack White
Jack White is in for a major honor during the 2017 Grammy Week, as the Detroit-bred musician will be celebrated by the Recording Academy’s Producers & Engineers. The main event, set for Feb. 8 at The Village Studios in West Los Angeles, will “highlight White’s accomplishments and ongoing support for the art and craft of recorded music.”
“For years, we’ve marveled at Jack White’s prodigious musicianship and have revered him as a guitar-playing mastermind, but we think it’s important to recognize his significant contributions ‘behind the glass’ as well,” Neil Portnow, president/CEO of The Recording Academy said in a statement. “There seems to be no limit to Jack’s pioneering creativity and unbridled passion, and it’s those qualities that embody the spirit of all of our Producers & Engineers Wing members.”
White is no stranger to the Grammys. He has earned several Grammys as the frontman for former garage rock duo the White Stripes. He also picked up honors as a producer for Loretta Lynn’s album “Van Lear Rose,” with White scoring a Best Country Album Grammy, and as an engineer on the Raconteurs’ album “Consolers of the Lonely,” in which he earned the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical Grammy.
In other news, White released “Jack White Acoustic Recordings: 1998-2016” last month, a compilation of his unplugged songs.
