Maynard James Keenan is working on vocals for the upcoming Tool album

It’s certainly music to the ears of Tool fans everywhere. New music from the band is getting closer. According to a recent post on Tool’s website, Maynard James Keenan has started working on vocals for band’s upcoming, fifth studio album. To say Tool’s upcoming release is highly anticipated would an understatement. More than a decade has passed since Tool unleashed their last studio album, “10,000 Days,” and Tool fans have been asking about new music for pretty much that entire decade.

Over the years, Tool have played some arena and festival shows, and band members have delved into other projects, such as A Perfect Circle, Ashes Divide and Puscifer. But, Tool has overall been pretty quiet.

The most recent post from Tool’s webmaster states that Keenan is getting serious about laying down vocals.

“In speaking with Danny (Carey, drums) last night, he told me that the band has temporarily MOVED some of their gear into a larger space (across town) where MAYNARD is working on VOCALS for some of the new Tool material,” the update states.”

The statement goes on to say, “I’m sure that he has already been doing this to some extent, but now he has more room to breathe and a better vocal booth.”

In touring news, Tool are set perform at two festivals thus far this summer: Governors Ball in New York City and Boston Calling.
