Billy Corgan is Back with a New Solo Album + Tour
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has a new solo set on the way
Billy Corgan has been teasing the release of a Rick Rubin-produced new album, and now, he’s finally unleashed the details. The set, called “Ogilala,” will arrive on Oct. 13. By the way, Corgan is going by William Patrick Corgan now, so make note.
Corgan has also released a preview off “Ogilala” via a delicate piano ballad called “Aeronaut,” which is available for digital download.
“For as long as I can remember the delineation point between songs I wrote for myself and songs I’d pen for whatever band was something I couldn’t explain,” Corgan said in a statement. “And it remains so, for they all feel quite personal to me, no matter their time or era. The lone difference on songs for ‘Ogilala’ is that they seemed to want little in the way of adornment.”
Corgan will set off on a North American tour behind “Ogilala” starting Oct. 14 in Brooklyn, New York. That tour will wrap up with a three-night stand in Los Angeles running Nov. 9 through 11. Tickets for all of the upcoming dates will go on sale starting Friday (Aug. 25) at 10 a.m. local time on Ogilala.com.
“Ogilala” marks Corgan’s sophomore solo album. His first solo release was 2005’s “TheFutureEmbrace.”
