Chris Jericho discusses the new Fozzy album, his motivational book, his 2018 cruise and more in this interview

Chris Jericho doesn’t stop. Not only is the WWE superstar topping the rock charts right now with his band Fozzy, but Jericho also just released a motivational book, “No is a Four-Letter Word.” Add to that a cruise set for October of 2018.

As Fozzy hits the road on a tour in support of their upcoming album, “Judas” (due out Oct. 13), Jericho spoke with Anne Erickson about the success of the single “Judas,” the current Fozzy tour and all of his other projects.

Anne Erickson: Let’s talk about the new album, “Judas.” The singles off the record are doing really well. The video for “Judas” has millions of views. What do you think of people loving it so much?

Chris Jericho: It’s really cool, because it’s taken things to the next level. We’ve had success with songs in the past but never anything like this. Like you said, it has nine million views on YouTube and just cracked into the top 15 on the rock radio charts. You can sense the difference, too. There’s a different buzz at shows and from people coming to see us live. It’s been a long time coming. We’ve been working very hard for this. Now is the right time and the right place for Fozzy, so it’s really exciting, and we’re on a roll right now. It’s a good way to be and a good way to feel, for sure.

What is it about the single “Judas” that you think has really struck a chord with people?

I think, lyrically, it resonates. Everybody can relate to making the wrong decision and knowing it’s the wrong decision. Should I have one more drink? Should I kiss this person? Should I go the wrong way down a one-way street? It’s the betrayal. I think that it’s something everybody an relate to and everybody can empathize with. I think it’s also the crushing riff. It’s very much more AC/DC than it is Metallica, as far as basically being very heavy but a combination of great dynamics and maybe the right place at the right time.

Tell me about the cruise you have coming up: Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea.

It’s something I’ve been working on for a two years now. I thought it would be a great idea for a cruise to do a wrestling-rock ‘n ‘roll cruise, what I’m known for, and incorporate all the other things I love, such as comedy and podcasting all these things. It took two years to get it rolling, and it’s never been done before, and we’re up and running, and I’m excited. It’s October of 2018, which gives me plenty of time to sell it out and make sure it’s such a great time that it becomes an annual occurrence. So, it all starts now. ChrisJerichoCruise.com to find out how you can be a part of it. I spent a lot of time picking the right lineup with the right people and right acts with the right talent.

You also have the new book out, “No is a Four-Letter Word.” It features 20 key life lessons you’ve learned over the years. Do you have a No. 1 biggest life lesson you’ve learned?

I think the basic bottom line is to be positive. Eliminate that negativity and stay positive and believe in yourself, and that’s what it all boils down to. When you look at life from a positive standpoint, it’s going to make it a lot better than if you look at it from a negative standpoint.
