Judas Priest Wrapping Up Work on New Album
Judas Priest is ‘almost done’ with their new record
Judas Priest has been hard at work this year working on a new record, and now with the news that the band is nominated for induction into the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, there’s extra excitement around the new tunes.
So, how are the new tunes coming along? In a new interview with Eddie Trunk on Trunk Nation, vocalist Rob Halford explained (transcribed by Blabbermouth) the new music is almost ready.
“We’re almost done,” Halford said in the interview. “We’re in that final hurdle before we get to the finish line.” All bets are pointing towards the new album arriving sometime in 2018.”
Halford added that he’s extremely excited about the direction of the new music. “It is sounding monumental,” he said. “It’s gonna blow your socks off. We’re thrilled. We’ve got this big metal monster looming in the background, about to drop early next year, with a world tour to coincide.”
In a different interview with Hardwired magazine, Andy Sneap commented on the recording process for the forthcoming album.
“Glenn (Tipton) originally wanted to work on it like they have done on the last few albums and use the demos as templates and work off that and I made them actually play as a band,” said Sneap. “I think we’ve got quite a fresh feel on it and quite an old-school approach at times. We pushed Rob on varying the patterns up a little bit on the verses.”
