Soundgarden, Kings X and Fugazi Members Set for MC5’s 50th Anniversary Tour
MC50, the 50th anniversary tour for MC5, will feature a bevy of famous musicians
MC5 is doing it up big for their 50th anniversary tour, as the trek will feature a bevy of big names. The trek, called MC50, will spotlight a lineup that includes founding guitarist Wayne Kramer, as well as Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, Fugazi’s Brendan Canty, Kings X’s Dug Pinnick and Zen Guerrilla’s Marcus Durant.
The North American leg of the MC5’s 50th anniversary tour will set off Sept. 5 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and run through two gigs in their hometown of Detroit, Oct. 26 and 27. The tour will hit major markets, including Atlanta, Nashville, Boston, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and beyond, totaling more than 30 shows.
For information on the MC50 Tour, including ticket details, head to the tour’s official website at MC50th.com.
On tour, each evening will feature Kramer and the touring lineup performing MC5’s seminal debut album, “Kick Out the Jams,” from front to back, as well as an encore of other MC5 classics.
“This band will rip your head off,” Kramer said in a statement. “It’s real, raw, sweaty, total energy rock and roll, like a bunch of 40-to-70-year-old punks on a meth power trip.”
