Michael Bolton-Produced Film About Detroit to Get Nationwide Screening
‘American Dream: Detroit’ is a new documentary that celebrates the Motor City
Michael Bolton has a special place in his heart for Detroit. The Grammy Award winner was first captivated with the Motor City when he was researching for his album “A Tribute to Hitsville USA,” and now, Bolton has produced an entire documentary about the D. The film, “American Dream: Detroit, a Love Letter From Motor City Legends Chronicling the Greatest Urban Turnaround in American History,” will be shown in cinemas nationwide one night only, on May 15.
“American Dream: Detroit,” according to a release, “celebrates the golden age of the Motor City.” The documentary chronicles the experience of some of Detroit’s greatest musicians, including Alice Cooper, Francis Ford Coppola, Jerry Bruckheimer, Aretha Franklin and Smokey Robinson and Alice Cooper. The May 15 screening will also feature a performance from Michael Bolton & Friends, shot live from The Grove in Los Angeles.
Tickets for “Michael Bolton Presents American Dream: Detroit,” which is a Fathom Events and Passion Films production, go on sale to the public on Friday (April 13) via FathomEvents.com and participating box offices.
“This documentary is a truly inspiring tale of a city’s historical transformation that is certain to entertain, educate and move fans coast to coast,” said Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt. “Additionally, the special bonus concert is a must-see for my friend Michael and ‘Hitsville USA’ aficionados.”
The film will play in more than 450 U.S. cinemas at 7 p.m. local time on May 15 via Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network (DBN). The full list of theaters and locations to view “Michael Bolton Presents American Dream: Detroit” will be available on April 13 via the Fathom Events website.
