A new vinyl box set from Black Sabbath will honor the band’s 1970s singles

Black Sabbath may have played their final show, but there’s still some great music from the metal giants out there to enjoy. When the band really got hot in the early 1970s, even though they had huge success in their U.K. homeland and even made it onto the top 40 chart, the band didn’t have much success in the U.S. Of those early singles, “Paranoid” was the biggest hit, making it to No. 4 in 1970. For those who missed out on the early Black Sabbath tunes, the band will release a limited-edition vinyl box set with replica editions of 10 of the group’s singles. The collection is out on June 8.

The set, dubbed “Supersonic Years — The Seventies Singles Box Set,” offers 10 seven-inch discs packaged in color picture sleeves that either replicate the original cover artwork or are exclusive to this release. Some of the tracks in the collection include rare single edits “Iron Man,” “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath,” “Am I Going Insane (Radio),” “Hard Road,” and “Symptom of the Universe.” Engineer Andy Pearce remastered all of the heavy tunes.

“Supersonic Years” also offers a booklet with new liner notes giving more information about the rare songs in the set and historical information about how Black Sabbath came to be, well, Black Sabbath.
