It’s official: Maynard James Keenan and Tool will tour Europe next summer

If new gigs are a sign that Tool will be active in 2019, then we have some good news for Tool fans. Maynard James Keenan and the the band have officially announced a European tour for next year.

The band will headline a summer 2019 European tour, and dates mark their first scheduled tour dates of next year. The run will set off June 2 in Berlin, Germany, and make it through stops in the U.K., Italy, Austria, Poland, Spain and more. The tour is currently scheduled to wrap up July 2 in Portugal. Find the full list of tour dates and ticket information on ToolBand.com.

So, what is the status of that new album? News about the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2006’s “10,000 Days” has been sparse, per usual, but Keenan did give some good news via Twitter last month. He explained that while Tool still has a “long way” to go, they are “much closer” to wrapping up work on that new album.

Keenan also used the hashtag #2019 in the tweet, implying that the new album might arrive next year. Various Tool band members have also been posting occasional updates about the progress of the new tunes on Tool’s website.

In other news, Keenan is currently on the road with his other band A Perfect Circle. The band is famously known for a strict no-photo policy at their shows, but at a recent tour stop in West Valley City, Utah, the band actually let fans take footage. As A Perfect Circle came to their last song in the set, Keenan told fans that they were allowed to get out their cell phones and take photos and record the band. We weren't allowed cell phones in the venue until the very last song. It was such a magical experience to NOT SEE ONE SINGLE CELL PHONE SCREEN until Maynard's announcement. A Perfect Circle was flawless. An INCREDIBLE show. Holy moly. I am beyond elated from the experience. SO SO SO SO GOOD . . . #apc #aperfectcircle #slc #maverickcenter #nophones #puremagic #maynardandbilly

What an experience this was. Cell phones weren’t allowed until the last performance and it felt great that everyone was engaged in just the music. Such an amazing show. #aperfectcircle #eattheelephant
