Family Force 5: New Album is for ‘Blaring at Maximum Volume’

Dance-rocker Family Force 5 prep for new album, III

Family Force 5 have a strong following who flock to any and every live show imaginable. The dance-rock guys entertained thousands on the Vans Warped Tour this summer, and now they’re ready to release their latest album, simply titled III, on Oct. 18 via Tooth & Nail Records and III Entertainment.

The collection promises party-happy tunes, rambunctious rockers, electro-groove vibes and a dance-y blend of synths and catchy beats. Chances are it will just up the charts, as 2008’s Dance or Die debuted No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 8 on modern rock.

Notable tracks on the album include the groovy “Wobble,” the tongue-in-cheek, “Tank Top” and the hard-knocks ditty “Paycheck.”

“These are songs for blaring at maximum volume, blasting from a sweaty club or a low-riding pick-up truck,” guitarist Derek Mount said, laughing. “III sounds like rock and roll with barbecue sauce.”

“Our goal was to make jock jams for the future,” he added, referring to the album’s lead track, “Can You Feel It.” “At the time, we were listening to a lot of Sleigh Bells, and we wanted to create something mean and gritty. This track gets people hyped up, and it perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the album.”

Family Force 5 say this is the album that solidifies them as a band moving forward with one vision: to make music that’s true to themselves, in every way. “Family Force 5 is a real, authentic community that transcends the music,” Mount said. “We make music that we love, and we hope other people love it too, whether it makes them break-dance, two-step, or simply smile.”
