We Came As Romans Won’t Replace Kyle Pavone

The guys of We Came As Romans plan to continue as a band, but they won’t replace late vocalist Kyle Pavone

We Came as Romans vocalist Dave Stephens says that the band won’t replace late co-vocalist Kyle Pavone. The band does, however, plan to continue as a five-piece unit.

“We wrote those songs together and they’re still my songs as well, but it’s weird even for me singing (Pavone’s) parts,” Stephens tells Kerrang! “I’m sure it’s kind of strange to the fans and the band, but I can’t imagine how much more strange it would be to have someone else singing them permanently.”

“We don’t ever want to add another member again, and at this point, we’re closer than ever,” Stephens added. “We wanna do our best to honor (Pavone) and make him proud, but never replace him. He definitely won’t be forgotten.”

Pavone passed away in August at age 28. He death was the result of an accidental drug overdose. Following the tragedy, We Came as Romans decided to go forward with their previously scheduled tour opening for Bullet for My Valentine to pay tribute to Pavone. Stephens says the band is looking to the future, although it’s difficult with Pavone gone.

“I guess the next first would be writing music without him, and I’m not sure when that will happen,” Stephens said. “We definitely plan on continuing on. Kyle and all of us dedicated so much time to making this happen because we all wanted it so [bad], and I know he would be pretty livid if we threw in the towel.”
