Dave Grohl, Corey Taylor + More Set to Honor ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott

This year’s Dimebash will feature Dave Grohl, Corey Taylor and a slew of other hard rock and metal names

The bill for this year’s Dimebash tribute to the late Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott just got a bit bigger. The annual rock and metal event has just added Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Slipknot singer Corey Taylor and Dimebag’s Pantera band mate Rex Brown to the lineup to honor the guitar great.

Dimebash 2019 is set for Thursday, Jan. 24, at Observatory in Santa Ana, California. The event’s special all-star jam will feature roughly 55 musicians, including Grohl, Taylor and Brown, as well as Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss, Anthrax’s Scott Ian and Charlie Benante, ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog, King’s X singer and bass player Dug Pinnick, Testament drummer Gene Hoglan and more.

“I love being a part of Dimebash. So many friends and musicians show up and it’s like a family reunion,” Pinnick said regarding Dimebash in a statement. “And keeping Dime’s party tradition in full bloom.”

The night will also bring performances from Fireball Ministry and Rex Brown’s band Kill Devil Hill. The annual raffle will offer one winner the chance to attend a private afterparty that will offer Dave Grohl’s BackBeat BBQ and an acoustic set by Kyng.

“Dimebash is one of the best shows/parties Kyng has played,” Kyng’s Eddie Veliz said in a statement. “One of the greatest memories of my career happened at Dimebash 2016 when I had the pleasure of playing Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’, the details to this story are very long winded but let’s just say it involved a couple of acoustic guitars and Dave Grohl…”

Dimebag tragically died after being shot onstage during a performance with his band Damageplan in Columbus, Ohio, in 2004. His brother and Pantera bandmate, drummer Vinnie Paul, passed away in June of last year due to complications from heart disease.
