Chris Cornell’s Widow Praises Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine for Tribute Performances
Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine honored Chris Cornell at last month’s tribute concert, and the performances got props from Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky
Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky is approves of Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine’s performance at last month’s tribute concert to benefit the late, great Soundgarden frontman.
Speaking with US Weekly, Vicky says that Cyrus’ performance of the Temple of the Dog song “Say Hello 2 Heaven” was “unbelievable.”
“Everyone gave such great performances but there were a few performances that touched me, moved me and I was (like), ‘Wow.’ An unexpected wow,” Vicky said. “I mean, Miley Cyrus, she’s an amazing singer and performer, but wow.”
Levine, who is known for fronting pop-rock band Maroon 5, rocked Chris’ solo song “Seasons,” which was released in 1992 as part of the soundtrack of the movie “Singles.”
“‘Seasons’ is my son’s favorite song. I thought Adam Levine killed it,” Vicky said. “He did an amazing job, I think he put his heart and soul into it and he felt it and you could feel all that love coming out.”
Brandi Carlile performed Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” and Audioslave’s “Like a Stone” at the tribute show, and Vicky also had kind words for those performances. Carlile also sang Soundgarden’s signature song, “Black Hole Sun.”
“Brandi Carlile made me cry during rehearsals for ‘Black Hole Sun,'” Vicky said.
Chris posthumously won the Best Rock Performance award at the 2019 Grammy Awards for “When Bad Does Good.” His two children with Vicky, Toni and Christopher, accepted the award on their father’s behalf.
