Soundgarden will celebrate their 35th anniversary with an expansive vinyl reissue series

Soundgarden’s landmark album “Superunknown” recently passed the 25 year mark, and the band celebrates its 35th year this year. In honor of both anniversaries, the iconic grunge band will release an expansive vinyl reissue series of every album in the group’s meaty catalog.

Soundgarden will kick off the series, which is being created with the help of with The Sound of Vinyl, starting in April with the unveiling of a special 25th anniversary version of “Superunknown” on translucent red and gold vinyl.

Each month, the band will release a new vinyl album. Those who want every single record can order the full series as a full bundle for a $149.98. Pre-orders for the bundle are available at TheSoundofVinyl.us.

The band is plotting additional Soundgarden 35th anniversary exclusives later this year, including double-LP 180-gram prints of 1991’s “Badmotorfinger” on marbled red and dark purple vinyl, 1996’s “Down on the Upside” on orange and marbled purple vinyl and even the band’s most recent album, 2012’s “King Animal,” on opaque white and buttercream yellow vinyl. The series will also include a pressing of 1989’s “Louder Than Love” on translucent yellow vinyl.

In other news, earlier this year, a tribute concert in honor of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell took place at the Forum in Los Angeles. The night ended with a performance from the surviving members of Soundgarden, and that will likely mark the group’s final performance together. Cornell passed away in May of 2017.
