It’s a big year for Tool, as the band just announced a handful of tour dates in support of their upcoming album

Maynard James Keenan and the guys of Tool have announced a new crop of U.S. headlining tour dates for this spring. The fresh dates will kick off May 7 in Birmingham, Alabama, and run through a May 17 date in Des Moines, Iowa.

The headlining dates come amid a handful of festivals that Tool was already schedule to play, including Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 5; Epicenter in Rockingham, North Carolina, on May 11; and Chicago Open Air on May 19.

Tickets for the newly-announced shows will go on sale Friday (May 15) at 10 a.m. local time at ToolBand.com.

As for new music, it’s finally on the way. Last month, Keenan tweeted that Tool’s new studio album, the much-anticipated follow-up to 2006’s “10,000 Days,” would drop sometime between mid-May and mid-July. The band also recently posted a Facebook photo of members, minus Keenan, in a recording studio with producer and engineer Joe Barresi and mastering engineer Bob Ludwig– another sign major progress is being made.
