Queen Musical ‘We Will Rock You’ Set for North American Tour
“We Will Rock You,” the Queen-inspired rock musical, will hit the road on a North American tour later this year
Queen is a major topic these days, thanks to the success of the band’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” biopic. Now, the band’s rock musical will makes its way across North America on a new, fall and winter tour.
“We Will Rock You” — produced by Annerin Theatricals in Alberta, Canada — will hit the road beginning Sept. 3 in Winnipeg, Canada, and continue through the end of the year.
“Annerin is proud to be able to produce ‘We Will Rock You,’ and we are obviously lucky with our timing,” Jeff Parry, president of Annerin Theatricals, said in a statement. “This is a show I have wanted to produce since I first saw it in London. My vision was to be able to produce it in such a way that it plays in soft-seaters as well as cut-down arenas.”
He added, “I thought that Queen’s musical was for everyone and not just the typical Broadway crowd, therefore we’re producing it in a way that can accommodate most buildings and audiences that want to experience the music of Queen in a uniquely theatrical manner.”
“We Will Rock You” has been experienced by more than 16 million theatregoers in more than 19 countries since it launched in 2002. The show’s original West End production had supervision from Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor. The musical features some of Queen’s most popular songs, including “We Are the Champions,” “Somebody To Love,” “Killer Queen,” “”Under Pressure,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites The Dust” and, yes, “We Will Rock You.”
