Dave Mustaine of Megadeth says his diagnosis with throat cancer is “clearly something to be respected and faced head on”
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has diagnosed with throat cancer. In a Facebook post Monday (June 17), the metal singer revealed that he has already started treatment and is hopeful for a full recovery. View the full post below.
“It’s clearly something to be respected and faced head on — but I’ve faced obstacles before,” Mustaine stated in the post. “I’m working closely with my doctors, and we’ve mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90 (percent) success rate.”
Due to the diagnosis, “most” of Megadeth’s 2019 tour dates have been canceled, according to the post, but the group’s highly-anticipated MegaCruise is still on, and Mustaine says the band will be part of the cruise in “some form.”
Moreover, the band is still working on their upcoming record, which will mark their follow-up to their 2016 Grammy Award-winning album, “Dystopia.”
“Meanwhile, Kiko, David, Dirk and I are in the studio, working on the follow up to ‘Dystopia’ — which I can’t wait for everyone to hear,” the statement reads. “I’m so thankful for my whole team — family, doctors, band members, trainers, and more. I can’t wait for everyone to hear.”
The staff of Audio Ink wishes Mustaine a quick and full recovery.
