Robert Plant and Sensational Space Shifters Plotting a Follow-Up to ‘Carry Fire’
Robert Plant already has plans to hit the studio with his band, the Sensational Space Shifters, and record the band’s follow-up to 2017’s “Carry Fire”
Robert Plant stays active with his solo project and backing band, the Sensational Space Shifters, and now, the Led Zeppelin singer says he has plenty of ideas ready to go for the follow-up to their 2017 studio album, “Carry Fire.” Moreover, he says that he and the Sensational Space Shifters plans to be in the studio soon.
“Between The Sensational Space Shifters’ guitarists Justin Adams and Liam ‘Skin’ Tyson and everybody, we’ve got about 40 different instrumental ideas already,” Plant told Classic Rock magazine, adding that he and his players are thinking of recording the new album in Nashville, Tennessee.
“There are some things in the air, possibly in Nashville. I’m supposed to be going there in two weeks’ time,” he continued. “There’s nothing going on at all at the moment, but there will be.”
Plant went onto discuss how he and the Sensational Space Shifters have enjoyed working on their albums with Tim Oliver, the manager of Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, stating, they “can mess about” in the Wiltshire, U.K., studio and come up with some good jams.
“I can spend an afternoon with Tim and really shift styles and stems of music in preparation to shape them as songs,” Plant added. “We’ve recorded the last two records (‘Carry Fire’ and 2014’s ‘Lullaby and…The Ceaseless Roar’) with Tim and it’s a great way of doing things. It’s a good combination. We all know where we’re going.”
