Greta Van Fleet Shooting to Release New Album ‘Earlier Next Year’

Greta Van Fleet is already wrapping up work on their follow-up to 2018’s “Anthem of the Peaceful Army”

Greta Van Fleet is on a roll. The Michigan rock band released their debut album, “Anthem of the Peaceful Army,” about one year ago, and they’re already nearing completion on their follow-up record.

“It’s intended to be a full release, a full album,” Greta Van Fleet frontman Josh Kiszka said of the upcoming album in an interview with Kerrang! magazine.

“For about two months in the heart of the summer of this year we really poured everything into the writing and recording, and we’re hoping that sometime earlier next year we’ll be able to put it out,” he added. “We’re super excited about it.”

When asked if the band feels pressure when it comes to this new release, since the Grammy Award-winning band’s previous album was such a success, Kiszka says, not really.

“I don’t think we set out to prove anything, particularly, but to point out some things about the world and our society,” he said. “There are some of those elements to this album. And it’s the next step I think, in the evolution and the sound of this band.”

Greta Van Fleet will perform a handful of makeup concerts that were originally set to take place earlier this year but were postponed because of Kiszka’s illness. The group will perform in Nashville Dec. 16, New Orleans Dec. 20 and Philadelphia Dec. 29 and 30.
