Musical acts are starting to reschedule their tours of Asia due to COVID-19 coronavirus, including Green Day and BTS

Green Day and BTS are among the musical acts that have pulled their upcoming tours of Asia due to concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus. In both cases, the shows will be rescheduled for a later date.

“We have unfortunately made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming shows in Asia due to the health + travel concerns with coronavirus,” Green Day tweeted Friday (Feb. 28). “We know it sucks, as we were looking forward to seeing you all. Hold on to your tickets we’ll be announcing the new dates very soon.”

The Asia dates — which were set to take the band through Bangkok, Manila, Seoul and Osaka, to name a few Asian cities — were scheduled to begin in March. The concerts were not part of Green Day’s 2020 Hella Mega tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer.

Green Day’s next scheduled show is in Moscow, Russia, in May. The band is touring to promote their latest album, “Father of All…”

BTS has been touring in support of the group’s latest album, “Map of the Soul: 7,” but on Friday (Feb. 28), canceled four concerts in Seoul that were booked for April, stating that it was “impossible at this time to predict the scale of the outbreak” and citing the “increasing uncertainty about the cross-border movement of concert staff and equipment.”

“While we hope that the situation will improve, we must take into consideration the health and safety of hundreds of thousands of guests as well as our artists and the dire impact a last-minute cancellation may have on guests from overseas, production companies and staff,” the group’s management company, Big Hit Entertainment, said in a statement on Facebook.
