Foo Fighters Finish New Album, Band Postpones First Leg of 25th Anniversary Tour

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl says the band’s new album is ready to go

Dave Grohl, the guy who never cancels concerts, is canceling concerts. Grohl and his band Foo Fighters have announced they are postponing the first leg their upcoming 25th anniversary Van Tour because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Grohl has been known to have a “the show must go on” mentality, but not when fans’ health is at risk.

“Remember me? The guy who wouldn’t even postpone a show when my … leg was falling off?” Grohl and the band said in a statement, referring to the time Grohl finished a show after falling off the stage and breaking his leg.

“Well…playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another,” he added, also saying, “We … love you guys. Let’s do this right…”

The tour, which was scheduled to hit cities the band performed at back in 1995, was set to begin April 12 in Phoenix, Arizona. Some of the April dates have already been rescheduled to December, and new dates for the other shows will be announced. The band also has May dates scheduled, and they’ll make an announcement regarding those dates as May approaches.

While the Foos won’t be touring in April, they have made some progress on new music. Grohl says the new Foo Fighters album, which marks the band’s the follow-up to 2017’s “Concrete and Gold,” is “done” and sounds “killer.”

He ended the note with a reminder to “go wash your hands.”
