Megadeth Recording Sessions Delayed Due to COVID-19
Megadeth’s new album is “written and ready to be recorded,” but sessions are delayed due to coronavirus restrictions
Megadeth are forging ahead on their new album, but have to temporarily take a break due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Bass player David Ellefson tells The Metal Voice that while the metal group’s upcoming new album is “written and ready to be recorded,” Ellefon, Dave Mustaine and company can’t actually get together in a studio to start recording it right now due to the coronavirus crisis.
“We were going to start recording it toward the end of March but of course COVID-19 happened,” Ellefson said. “We were going to go to Nashville and start cutting tracks for the album but with everything shutting down we obviously had to postpone.”
“Once the lock down lifts and it is safe we will be ready to rock ASAP,” he added.
The new album will mark Megadeth’s follow-up to their 2016 Grammy Award-winning record, “Dystopia.”
As for right now, Megadeth is scheduled to embark on a U.S. co-headlining tour with Lamb of God in June, but tiime will tell if that run is still a go due to the government lockdown restrictions and tour cancellations and postponements of the past few months.
