The Pretty Reckless, ‘Death by Rock and Roll’ – Song Review
Taylor Momsen sings about her love for rock ‘n’ roll in The Pretty Reckless’ latest single
Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless are back with a new single, “Death by Rock and Roll,” and the song carries a raw, real, lo-fi rock vibe.
The track kicks off with a sludgy, Soundgarden-esque riff before Momsen jumps in to sing, “But on my tombstone when I go / Just put ‘Death By Rock and Roll.'”
“Death By Rock and Roll” is the first preview of new music off the band’s upcoming fourth studio album, which is slated to arrive later this year. The track is currently streaming via digital outlets, and you can listen to it on YouTube below.
“In a lot of ways, this new album feels like a rebirth and our first single, ‘Death by Rock and Roll,’ represents that salvation that my favorite music brings me,” Momsen said in a statement. “Rock is freedom and this song is about living life the way you want, and now that belongs to everyone who listens.”
The Pretty Reckless’ latest album 2016’s “Who You Selling For,” which earned the group a slew of rock hits, including “Take Me Down,” “Oh My God” and “Back to the River.”
If “Death by Rock and Roll” is any indication, the upcoming album from The Pretty Reckless will have the gritty, analog-sounding charm of the band’s previous album, with a slightly more mature approach in songwriting and performing. Buckle up! Ink rating: 9/10.
