Blink-182 ‘Getting in Touch with Their Roots’ on New Album
Producer John Feldmann says the upcoming Blink-182 album gets back to the band’s classic beginnings
Blink-182 has been using their time in quarantine to work on new music, and producer John Feldmann says the new music fits well with the band’s early catalog.
“The band has definitely been getting in touch with their roots,” Feldmann told Rock Sound. “The songs we have been working on have been super classic Blink and I can’t be more excited.”
Feldmann produced Blink-182’s latest two studio albums, “Nine” and 2016’s “California,” the latter which was the first to feature Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba in place of Tom DeLonge.
“With Nine the band wanted to experiment with a bunch of different sounds and programming and push the envelope forwards,” Feldmann said. “They didn’t just want to remake California, which I totally understand as artists, not wanting to just redo an album that was so successful for them.
“Nine was a really experimental record and I’m really proud to have been a part of that album, I think with whatever is going to come next is definitely more roots for them,” he added.
Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker first dropped the news that the band was working on a new album when he announced the band had a new track called “Quarantine” they were putting together.
