Anthrax are sharing a series of episodes reflecting on the band’s landmark “Persistence of Time” album, which was released in 1991 and celebrates its 30th anniversary this August.
When it comes to “Persistence of Time,” many fans remember Antharx’s groundbreaking collaboration 1991 “Bring the Noise” collaboration with Public Enemy, and the tour that followed with the rappers.
In a new web episode, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante remembers that “Bring the Noise” collaboration and why it meant to much to Anthrax at the time.
“There were some left over things from the ‘Persistence of Time’ session, and one thing we were talking about doing was ‘Bring the Noise’ by Public Enemy,” Benante explains in the video.
“We decided we were going to go on tour together, and it was one of the best tours we had ever done,” Benante adds. “People came out of the woodwork for that, and this was pre-Lollapalooza. This tour consisted of four bands, which was Public Enemy, ourselves, Primus and The Young Black Teenagers. This was a very eclectic bill. We’ve never been on a bill like this.”
