Smith & Myers, the side project of Shinedown’s Brent Smith and Zach Myers, will perform two drive-on concerts this September in Pennsylvania

Shinedown members Brent Smith and Zach Myers have announced their debut full-length album with their Smith & Myers side-project.

The 10-song set, called “Smith & Myers Volume 1,” will feature five covers and five original songs and arrive on Oct. 9.

“We’ve spent a great deal of time and energy making sure this project is completely authentic,” Smith said in a statement. “The main reason Smith & Myers exists has to do with the fans. A project that was born from multiple requests over the years has now evolved into its true identity. Make no mistake — it’s about the songs, it’s about the story, and above all it’s about the message.”

In other news, more and more bands are looking to drive-in concerts as an option to perform live music during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and Smith & Myers are getting in on the trend.

The two have have announced two back-to-back drive-in concerts with their side project, Smith & Myers. The concerts are scheduled for Sept. 3 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Sept. 18 in Scranton, Pennsylvania; and Sept. 19 in Buter, Pennsylvania.

Shinedown were previously been tied with Three Days Grace for the highest number of No. 1s on the Mainstream Rock Songs, so “Atlas Falls” gives Shinedown the record.

“‘Atlas Falls’ represents so many emotions, especially now,” Smith said in a statement. “The success of this song would have never been achieved if it wasn’t for the audience, the fans, ‘FAMILY,’ the people. A song that was written and recorded eight years ago found its voice in 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic as a symbol of optimism, courage, and the human spirit.”

“Atlas Falls” was first recorded while Shinedown was creating their 2012 album, “Amaryllis.” The band gave the song a proper release earlier this year, and proceeds from the salves of “Atlas Falls” went to Direct Relief, a non-profit organization supplying personal protective equipment to healthcare workers.
