Judas Priest to Release Photo Book, ‘Judas Priest — 50 Heavy Metal Years’
Judas Priest turns 50 as a band this year, and in honor, the guys will release a glossy coffee table book called, “Judas Priest — 50 Heavy Metal Years.”
Judas Priest will celebrate their rich metal history with a 648-page coffee table book named, “Judas Priest — 50 Heavy Metal Years.” The book, which is out in early December, marks the first-ever authorized book about Judas Priest and will feature contributions from all of the current band members, plus journalist Mark Blake.
“50 Heavy Metal Years” will also feature hundreds of photographs from Ross Halfin, Fin Costello, Neil Zlozower, Mark Weiss, Oliver Halfin and more famed rock and metal photographers. The cover art for the book was designed by Mark Wilkinson, who designed six of Judas Priest’s album covers.
“We spearheaded the visual image of metal – breathing new life into it and it has been captured forever in the pages of this book,” guitarist Glenn Tipton said in a press statement.
“I’ve photographed Judas Priest from 1978 until now and of all the bands I’ve worked with they are one of the most enjoyable to me,” photographer Ross Halfin added. “You have to love the mighty Priest.”
“50 Heavy Metal Years” will arrive in four versions: a Standard Edition with a cloth slipcase with red foil; a Deluxe Edition, limited to 500 numbered copies, bound in black leather with gold foil and a fold-out poster, among other goodies; a version supporting Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation Charity Edition, limited to 100 copies, which features a blue cover and is housed in a cloth slipcase with blue foil; and the Epic Leather and Metal Edition, limited to 100 copies, which is 16″x16″ and comes in die cut black metal slipcase with plenty of goodies. All except the Standard Edition are autographed by Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Ian Hill, Richie Faulkner and Scott Travis.
