Smith & Myers Release Billie Eilish Cover, Announce ‘Volume 2’ Album
Brent Smith and Zach Myers from Shinedown will release two albums with their Smith & Myers project this fall, both featuring a mix of covers and originals
Shinedown lead vocalist Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers have released a cover of Billie Eilish’s chart-topper “bad guy” as part of their Smith & Myers side project, reimagining the pop single as an acoustic number.
In addition to the “bad guy” cover, Smith & Myers have also released a new, original track, called “Bad at Love.” Both songs are available for digital download via all the usual outlets.
Smith & Myers are gearing up to release a new album, “Volume 2,” and both “bad guy” and “Bad at Love” will be included on the set. “Volume 2,” which will appropriately follow the guys’ “Volume 1” release, will feature Smith & Myers putting their own spin on five cover songs and releasing five original tracks.
Other covers set to appear on “Volume 2” include Oasis’s “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer,” Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” and R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion.” Meanwhile, “Volume 1” will feature covers of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In the Free World,” The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody,” INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart” and Post Malone’s “Better Now,” as well as some originals.
“We’ve spent a great deal of time and energy making sure this project is completely authentic,” Smith said in a statement. “The main reason Smith & Myers exists has to do with the fans. A project that was born from multiple requests over the years, has now evolved into its true identity. Make no mistake – it’s about the songs, it’s about the story, and above all it’s about the message.”
“Volume 1” will arrive on Oct. 9, and “Volume 2” will drop two weeks later, on Oct. 23.
