Billie Joe Armstrong and the guys of Green Day will release a special, 25th anniversary edition of “Insomniac” next year
Green Day will unleash a vinyl reissue of the band’s 1995 album “Insomniac” in honor of the seminal record’s 25th anniversary.
The two-LP release features the original record in a remastered format, as well as a handful of rare and previously unreleased live cuts.
The “Insomniac” 25th anniversary reissue is scheduled to ship in March 2021. The collection is available to pre-order now via the Green Day web store.
“Insomniac is finally old enough to rent a car (or whatever else you can do when you’re 25, we’re not lawyers),” Green Day said in a statement. “So we remastered it to celebrate, and we’re throwing in some bonus goodies to boot!”
Green Day first released “Insomniac” on Oct. 10, 1995. The album didn’t hit the top of the charts like the band’s 1994 album “Dookie,” which was diamond-certified, but over time, “Insomniac” became more and more popular, thanks to chart-topping rock singles such as “Geek Stink Breath,” “Brain Stew” and “Jaded.” The album was eventually certified double-platinum.
In other news, Green Day released their latest studio album, “Father of All…,” in February. The band was supposed to tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer in support of the new album, but that tour has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
