Miley Cyrus Debuts at No. 1 on the Rock Chart with ‘Plastic Hearts’

Congratulations are in order for pop singer Miley Cyrus, whose new album, “Plastic Hearts,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart

Miley Cyrus is usually referred to as a pop star, not a rocker, but the singer has expressed her love for the heavier side of music multiples times over the years. Now, Cyrus can call herself a bona fide rock star, as her new album, “Plastic Hearts,” has debuted No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart.

Cyrus is only the fourth solo woman to top the chart this year. The other female artists who have topped the tally include Fiona Apple with “Fetch the Bolt Cutters,” Hayley Williams of Paramore with “Petals for Armor” and Alanis Morissette for “Such Pretty Forks in the Road.”

Miley was even surprised by the good news. She took to Instagram on Monday (Dec. 7) to share a video of herself shocked about the showing.

“#PlasticHearts is the #1 rock record in the country,” Miley stated on the video caption. “My mind is blown and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank YOU to every creative collaborator involved on this project! If one person was missing I would not be writing this message.”

Cyrus’ new album features a handful of big-named rock artists, including Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, Billy Idol, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, Dua Lipa and Mark Ronson. She personally thanks them for their help in the caption of the Instagram video.

“Plastic Hearts” also debuted at No. 2 on the general Billboard 200 Albums chart. That marks her best showing on the Billboard 200 since her album “Bangerz” reached No. 1 back in 2013. Bad Bunny’s “El Ultimo Tour del Mundo” took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 Chart this week.
