Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters says there’s one song from the band that is closest to his heart

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was asked by Matt Wilkinson of Apple Music 1 to name his favorite Foo song, and he didn’t hesitate with his answer.

“I would say without a doubt, it would be ‘Aurora,'” Hawkins said. “Aurora” is a song off the Foo Fighters’ 1999 album, “There Is Nothing Left to Lose,” and it’s not a huge hit for them, so that makes it an interesting choice.

“I just think it’s really, I love that side of Dave (Grohl),” Hawkins added. “I love it when Dave gets in his almost yacht rock softness in his voice and he double tracks his voice really nice.”

Hawkins also said that the track happens to be the first song he recorded with Foo Fighters after becoming an official member of the band in 1997. So, what’s his favorite Foos songs from before he joined the band? Hawkins says he has an affinity for “This Is a Call,” a song that appears on the band’s 1995 debut album.

“I was playing with Alanis (Morissette) and we were all in the van, traversing the Foo Fighters, playing all the same clubs as they were,” Hawkins recalled. “And it was just funny, and we just wore that album out. And ‘This Is a Call’ might be my favorite Foo Fighters song of all time, too.”

Foo Fighters will unleash their new album, “Medicine at Midnight,” on Feb. 5, 2021. The album’s first single, “Shame Shame,” is currently No. 1 on the BDS mainstream rock radio chart.
