Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin have joined forces for a cover of the celebrated Beastie Boys tune “Sabotage” and the Drake track “Hotline Bling,” kicking off the first and second songs in the duo’s Hanukkah Sessions song series. Stream both cover songs via the YouTube player below.

“As the only Rock and Roll Hall of Famers with a lyric about kugel, we thought it would be a shanda to not kick off this party with New York’s (and Abraham’s) finest,” Grohl said in a statement.

The Foo Fighters frontman added, “Known by some as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abedenego, known by others as Ad-Rock, Mike D, and MCA…known by their Imas and Abbas as Adam Horovitz, Mike Diamond and Adam Yauch… Beastie Boys!”

The Hanukkah Sessions will feature Grohl and Kurstin covering eight tracks by various Jewish artists to honor each night of the holiday, which started Thursday (Dec. 10) at sunset.

“With all the mishegas of 2020, Greg and I were kibbitzing about how we could make Hannukah extra-special this year. Festival of Lights?!?” Grohl and Kurstin said on Foo Fighters’ YouTube channel. “How about a festival of tasty LICKS!!! So hold on to your tuchuses because we’ve got something special coming for your shayna punims.”

In other news, Foo Fighters are prepping to release their new studio album, “Medicine at Midnight,” on Feb. 5, 2021. The album was produced by Kurstin, and he also produced the band’s latest album, 2017’s “Concrete and Gold.”
